Can I breastfeed while taking Norgeston?

Mini pills like Norgeston have not shown any detrimental effects on breast milk or the development or growth of the baby. Although it may be suitable to use during breastfeeding, you should talk to your doctor or midwife if you are considering taking Norgeston.

Does Norgeston cause weight gain?

Although weight changes are listed as a potential side effect of Norgeston. One review found that the average weight gain whilst taking a progesterone-only pill for 6 or 12 months was less than 2kg.

Will Norgeston affect my period?

While taking Norgeston some women may find that their period stops or they may experience spotting or irregular periods, especially during the first few months of taking it. These changes are usually normal and nothing to worry about, but if you are concerned, talk to your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.

Can I switch to Norgeston?

Yes, you will need to speak to your doctor about switching because you’ll need a prescription for Norgeston. To switch to Norgeston if you are:

  • Currently on a combined oral contraceptive, patch, or vaginal ring: Start taking Norgeston the day after your last active pill or on the day of the removal of your last vaginal ring or patch.
  • Changing from another mini pill: Start taking Norgeston at any time.
  • Changing from a progesterone-only injection or implant: Start Norgeston on the exact date when your next implant or injection is due.
