Dr Zenon Andreou - Medical Director

Accreditations: MBBS, BSc, MSc, MRCGP, MRCS
Zenon studied medicine at University College London, graduating in 2006. His postgraduate training was in hospitals in and around London and he trained for 4 years in otolaryngology before completing his training in General Practice.
He has an interest in allergies, having obtained a Masters Degree from Imperial College London. Currently he divides his time between General Practice and online medicine.
Dr Kathryn Basford - Doctor

Dr Kathryn Basford is a GP based in London. She graduated from the University of Manchester and completed her GP training through Whipps Cross Hospital in London. Outside of work she enjoys baking and keeping active, running marathons, swimming, and triathlons.
Dr Nicholas Antonakopoulos - Doctor

Dr Nicholas Antonakopoulos did his undergraduate studies at the University of London, graduating in 2006. He also trained for 4 years in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery before completing his training to become a GP in 2015.
Nick works as a GP for the NHS in London, and has been working as part of the clinical team at ZAVA since 2018.
Dr Lisa Carter - Doctor

Dr Lisa Carter works part-time for ZAVA and part-time as a GP in Bristol. She did her undergraduate training in Cardiff, and her postgraduate training throughout London. Lisa's area of interest is sexual and reproductive health.
Dr Charlotte Hammerton - Doctor

Charlotte studied medicine at the University of Nottingham and has worked in hospitals in London, Kent, and Sussex since graduating. She's interested in how healthcare is changing to help patients access healthcare quickly, safely, and conveniently. Her particular interests are in medical education, travel medicine, and children's health. She has undertaken postgraduate training in these areas and is currently studying for a Masters in Medical Education.
Dr Clair Grainger - Doctor

Dr Clair Grainger did her undergraduate studies at The University of Edinburgh between 2004 to 2009. She completed her training as a GP at North Middlesex Hospital in 2017. Her experience includes hospitals throughout Edinburgh and London.
Clair has been at ZAVA since 2018, and also works as an NHS GP. Her professional interests include respiratory, sexual, and reproductive health.
Dr Babak Ashrafi - Clinical Lead for Service Expansion

Babak studied medicine at King’s College London and graduated in 2003, having also gained a bachelor’s degree in Physiology during his time there. He completed his general practice (GP) training in East London, where he worked for a number of years as a partner at a large inner-city GP practice. He completed the Royal College of GPs membership exam in 2007.
Babak has led in areas including cardiology, diabetes, and stroke medicine, as well as working for the local Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCG) as the Prescribing Lead. He has experience in both the NHS and the private sector, which has helped him gain unique insights into the future of healthcare.
Dr Sophie Albe-Ly - Doctor

Sophie is an experienced GP, and has worked both in France and the UK. Sophie moved to online medicine in 2016 and finds this new way of practising very rewarding. She appreciates how practical it is for the patients, and believes it's a great way to address issues that can be embarrassing for patients to talk about face-to-face.
Dr Beverley Kugler - Doctor

Beverley studied medicine at University College London, graduating in 2010 with distinction. Her postgraduate training was in hospitals around London and she also completed a Bachelors of Science in Pharmacology. As well as working in online medicine, she's currently training to specialise in Paediatric medicine.
Dr Emily Wimmer - Doctor

Emily is a German doctor with a German and English license to practice. After she graduated medical school in 2009 she started her training in internal medicine in Vienna, Austria, and Hamburg, Germany. She started working for ZAVA in 2015 and she regularly joins the team in London. In addition to her work for ZAVA, she works at the University of Hamburg as a clinical investigator.
Dr Crystal Wyllie - Doctor

Dr Crystal Wyllie studied at Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry, graduating in 2010. She then completed her training as a GP in hospitals and practices in and around London. Her particular interests are in reproductive, sexual, and women’s health.
Dr Marie-Claire Jarvis - Doctor

Dr Marie-Claire Jarvis is a Consultant Dermatologist and member of the British Association of Dermatologists. She graduated from Newcastle University Medical School gaining a distinction in her research masters degree. She went on to complete her specialist training in dermatology at Imperial College London NHS Healthcare Trust and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. She has worked in the UK and internationally, and has been published extensively.
Dr Lizelle Barkhuizen - Doctor

Lizelle studied medicine in South Africa and graduated as an independent GP in 1997. She immigrated to the UK where her NHS work mainly involved A&E, intensive care, oncology and dermatology. She has been a private GP in London for 15 years. Her interests include preventative and lifestyle medicine. She’s also been involved in private and corporate screening for conditions such as cardiac disease, mental health, cancer, and diabetes.
Dr Ulrike Thieme - Doctor

Dr. Ulrike Thieme studied medicine at the Charité Berlin and the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich. She completed her specialist training in neurology in 2018.

Dr Simran Deo - Doctor

Dr Simran Deo qualified from St George’s, University of London in medicine in 2006 with a distinction in her written finals. During this time she also achieved a BSC in pharmacology from King's College London. She went on to specialise in general practice, obtaining the MRCGP certification in 2012. In 2014 she received a merit for a Diploma in Dermatology from Cardiff University.
In her spare time, Simran passionately enjoys travelling and studying philosophy.
Dr Nadia Schendzielorz - Medical Author
Nadia studied pharmacy at the University of Bonn, Germany from which she graduated with distinction and later obtained a PhD in Pharmacology from the University of Helsinki, Finland. She subsequently moved to London where she initially worked as an account manager advising pharmaceutical companies on strategic decisions and educational programs. From 2016-2020 Nadia supported ZAVA's pharmacy, travel medicine and editorial services before returning to pharma where she currently works as a medical advisor. Nadia continues to support ZAVA's editorial services as a freelance medical editor and pursues a specialisation in medical information in her free time.
Dr Brenda Ikeji - Medical Editor
Accreditations: MBBS, BSc, MPH, MSc.
Brenda studied medicine at St Georges University of London and has most recently worked in John Radcliffe Oxford University Hospitals, covering acute and general medicine. Before her medical career, Brenda was a medical scientist in microbiology working in several NHS diagnostic laboratories across England. She has also completed her Masters in Public Health and MSc in Genomic Medicine. She is currently a GP registrar.
Dr Zoe Miller - Medical Editor

Zoe initially studied biological sciences at Aston University, with an integrated placement year working as a mental health care assistant and volunteering abroad. After completing her first degree, she went on to study graduate-entry medicine at Warwick University. After graduating as a doctor, she worked within the West Midlands in Urology, Respiratory Medicine, Infectious Disease, and Psychiatry before transitioning into a full-time medical communications role. Zoe currently works as a freelance medical writer and editor for various health communications agencies, charities, pharmaceutical companies, and health organisations.

Alex Howson - Head of Operations and Pharmacy Superintendent

Alex studied pharmacy at the University of Nottingham and completed his training in the Sherwood Forest NHS Foundation Trust. He gained experience in both primary and secondary care settings before joining ZAVA in 2015. Since then, Alex has worked across each of ZAVA’s markets to distribute safe, convenient care to patients across Europe.
Marika Shimokawa-Kelly - UK Partner and Facilities Operations Manager and Pharmacist

Marika studied pharmacy at University College London and completed her training in a community pharmacy in Ladbroke Grove. She joined ZAVA after qualifying as a pharmacist in 2018.
Marika works in our mail order pharmacy dispensing and checking products to ensure they’re delivered safely to our patients.
Oloma Nwodu - Pharmacist

Oloma studied pharmacy at King’s College London and completed her training as a community pharmacist in Putney. Oloma has worked for Cegedim, implementing safe and accurate drug databases for GPs all over the UK, before continuing on as a community pharmacist throughout London.
In 2015 Oloma joined ZAVA in service development, working with both ZAVA and its partners to create safe new treatment options for our patients.
Non-clinical team
David Meinertz - Chief Executive Officer
David co-founded ZAVA with a friend and is the registered owner of the pharmacy. Before launching ZAVA, David worked at a leading online healthcare company in London where he focused on international expansion. Before that, David invested in and helped build and re-build small and medium-sized companies in healthcare, electronics, and distribution sectors in Europe for about 10 years.
