About Viagra Connect
-
-
Viagra Connect is a widely used treatment for erectile dysfunction (ED) in men over 18 years old.
The active ingredient in Viagra Connect is sildenafil. This is a phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor that works by improving the blood flow to your penis. This makes it easier to get and maintain an erection hard enough for sex when you’re sexually aroused. If you’re not sexually aroused, Viagra Connect won’t work.
-
-
Viagra Connect contains the active ingredient sildenafil citrate. Sildenafil works by temporarily relaxing your blood vessels so more blood can flow into your penis. This makes it easier to get and maintain an erection.
Sildenafil works on specific chemicals that your body releases when you are sexually stimulated. This means you’ll only get an erection if you are sexually aroused and not at any other time.
Viagra Connect does not help delay ejaculation, though a lot of men with premature ejaculation will also suffer from erectile dysfunction.
What if Viagra Connect doesn’t work for me?
If Viagra Connect doesn’t work for you, try again another day. Your doctor will recommend trying it 8 times before changing your dose or suggesting a different ED treatment.
You should also avoid drinking alcohol and grapefruit juice as this can make it more difficult to get an erection. You should let your doctor know if you take any other medications that could affect how well Viagra Connect works.

-
To take Viagra Connect:
- Swallow 1 tablet whole with a glass of water an hour before you want to have sex
- Make sure you are sexually aroused for Viagra Connect to work
- It usually takes 30 to 60 minutes for Viagra Connect to start working
- Do not take more than 1 Viagra Connect tablet in a 24 hour period
- Try not to worry if you do not get an erection the first time you use Viagra Connect. You might need to get used to timing when to take your tablet and when you want to have sex.
- You can only take 1 Viagra Connect tablet a day. If you take Viagra Connect and it does not work, do not take another tablet on the same day.
- If Viagra Connect does not work for you after you’ve tried it 8 times, speak to your doctor.
- If you take too much Viagra Connect, contact your doctor right away.
- You can take Viagra Connect with food or on an empty stomach. Do not take Viagra Connect with grapefruit or grapefruit juice. This can interfere with how the medicine works.
- Drinking alcohol can make it more difficult for you to get an erection. Alcohol can also make the side effects of Viagra Connect stronger, such as getting headaches or feeling hot and flushed. To make sure Viagra Connect works for you, try not to drink lots of alcohol before taking it.
How long does Viagra Connect take to work?
Viagra Connect usually takes between 30 to 60 minutes to work. This differs from person to person, so you may need to try it a few times to see how long it takes to work for you. Viagra Connect may take longer to start working if you have recently eaten a fatty or greasy meal or drank alcohol.
How long do the effects of Viagra Connect last?
Viagra Connect should last for around 4 to 6 hours, but it can last longer for some people.
How often can I take Viagra Connect?
You should not take more than 1 Viagra Connect tablet in a 24 hour period, even if it does not work or is not effective. If you have already taken Viagra Connect, wait until the next day to try again.
What doses of Viagra Connect are there?
Viagra Connect only comes in the standard dose of 50mg tablets. If you think you need a higher or lower dose, speak to your doctor about taking Viagra or sildenafil instead. These contain the same active ingredients but can be taken in 25mg or 100mg tablets.

If Viagra Connect is not right for you, there are alternative erectile dysfunction treatments that you may be able to try. Many alternative medications for ED are also PDE5 inhibitors, such as:
- Sildenafil - this is the generic form of Viagra that contains the same active ingredient and works in exactly the same way. Generic treatments are usually cheaper and more often prescribed on the NHS.
- Cialis (the brand name for tadalafil) - known as the weekend pill, Cialis lasts for up to 36 hours after taking it, so you have a longer window when you can have sex. It’s also available as Cialis Daily, which you take every single day, so you’re ready to have sex whenever you want to.
- Levitra (the brand name for vardenafil) - Levitra is effective for around 54-74% of people who take it and is available in 3 different doses like Viagra. There is also a generic version of this medication called vardenafil.
- Spedra - this is the fastest acting ED treatment and gets to work in 15-30 minutes after taking it. This is ideal if you want to be ready for sex quickly or if other treatments haven’t been as effective for you.
You can also request an ED trial pack from ZAVA. This way, you can try different ED medications and find which one works best for you.
Can I take Viagra Connect with other ED medications?
No, you should not take more than one ED medication at a time. This could be dangerous and increase the risk of side effects. It will not improve the effectiveness of your ED treatment. If you believe your ED medication is not working, you can speak to your doctor about trying an alternative treatment.
-
-
Can Viagra Connect be used to treat premature ejaculation?
