Who can get testing or treatment online

You can get a test kit if:

  • you’re over 18 years old

You can get treatment if:

  • you’re over 18
  • you’ve been using your treatment for 3 months already and you’re satisfied with the results
  • you’ve had recent blood tests to check your liver function
  • you’re not pregnant or breastfeeding
  • you’ve not recently had a heart problem
  • you’ve not had recent liver or kidney problems

How to request medication

Just follow these simple steps:

  • If you’re requesting treatment, you need to have been using it for at least 3 months, and have had blood tests to checks your liver function
  • For both tests and treatments, fill out a short online assessment about your health and lifestyle
  • Select your preferred treatment option
  • A ZAVA doctor will check your assessment to see if your chosen treatment is right for you
  • If it is, it can be posted to your preferred address or you can collect it from a local Post Office instead

How the test works

The cholesterol blood test is simple and easy to use:

  • The test will contain 3 lances (device for pricking your finger) and a collection tube
  • Collect a drop of blood from your finger using a lance
  • Place the drop of blood into the collection tube
  • Use the prepaid envelope to post to our partner lab
  • Your sample will be used to test your cholesterol levels
  • Get the results 2 or 3 days after sending your sample to the lab
  • A ZAVA doctor will then send you advice based on your results

Common side effects of treatment

One treatment option for high cholesterol is statins. The most common side effects of statins are:

  • headaches
  • feeling dizzy (nausea)
  • runny or blocked nose
  • nosebleeds
  • a sore throat
  • joint and muscle pain
  • constipation
  • diarrhoea
  • indigestion
