ZAVA has partnered with one of Europe’s leading medical diagnostics providers SYNLAB to offer COVID-19 testing (testing provided by Southwest Pathology Services, part of SYNLAB Group). SYNLAB is a UKAS accredited private provider listed on GOV.UK for COVID-19 testing. How to Order

Fully vaccinated individuals entering the UK from a non red list country can take a Day 2 lateral flow test, instead of a Day 2 PCR test (as of Sunday 9 January). This also extends to children regardless of their vaccination status (children under 5 years old do not need to take any tests to enter the UK).

If you have already bought a Day 2 PCR test, you can still use this (for instance, if you prefer a test with a higher sensitivity to detect COVID-19). Your result will be valid. Alternatively, you can replace this with a lateral flow test and we will refund the cost of your old PCR test (note, both your old PCR test and replacement lateral flow test must be bought from ZAVA). Follow the steps on our refunds page (important: you will need to return your old PCR kit to us).

1) Order your Day 2 PCR test

This test is for anyone who is fully vaccinated and is arriving in the UK from a country outside the red travel list.

It is also suitable for children, regardless of vaccination status. Children aged 5 and over in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and 11 and over in Scotland must take a Day 2 test within the first 2 days of arriving in the country, regardless of vaccination status. Children aged 4 and under do not need to take any tests.

Remember, since 9 January, you can take a Day 2 lateral flow test instead if you’re fully vaccinated and arriving in the UK from a non red list country.

You can order multiple test kits (for yourself and for others in your group).

If you are unsure if this test is for you or have any queries about your order, you can contact our Customer Support team on 020 3588 0292, 7 days a week.

2) Record your test booking reference number

After ordering your test, you will receive two emails. The first email will contain your order confirmation, and the second email will contain your test booking reference number. Make a note of your test booking reference number as you will need this to complete your passenger locator form.

3) Activate and take your test

Follow the instructions included with your test kit to activate and take your test in the first two days after you’ve arrived in the UK.

You must activate your test, otherwise we cannot give you your result. Please activate any tests taken by those under 16 years old, from your own ZAVA account.

IMPORTANT:

Do not forget to note down your 8 digit test kit number number (beginning with ‘P’). You can find this on the outside of your test kit box and printed on the sheet of stickers that come with your kit.

4) Return your test

You can return your test by posting it using a Royal Mail priority post box.

We recommend that you avoid posting your test kit on a Sunday, as there may be delays in receiving your results. Instead, post your test kit on a Saturday before 12pm, if possible.

IMPORTANT:

You must make a note of your Royal Mail tracking ID. You will need this to identify your test if there are any delivery issues. You can find this number under the barcode on the postal tracking label attached to your test kit.

Read our delivery page for more information.

5) Get your results

You should receive your test results and information on what to do next in your ZAVA patient account, within 48 hours of receipt by Royal Mail.

COVID-19 testing for travel can be stressful, but we're here to support you. If you need help or have questions, our friendly Customer Support team is just a phone call away on 020 3588 0292, 7 days a week.

How Day 2 testing works

If you’re fully vaccinated and entering the UK from a country outside the red list, you will need to take a test within 2 days to check for COVID-19.

If you take a PCR test, all you have to do is:

  • Order your Day 2 test before entering the UK.
  • Make a note of your booking reference number. You will need to enter this on your passenger locator form when you enter the UK.
  • Activate and take your Day 2 test within two days of entering the UK
  • Pack your sample using the prepaid Tracked24 envelope included with your kit, and post this from a priority post box. Don’t forget to write down your Royal Mail tracking reference number and post your test before the last priority collection to avoid delays.
  • We will email you to let you know when your results are in your ZAVA patient account. You should get your results within 48 hours of your test being received by Royal Mail.

If you test negative for COVID-19, you are free to continue as normal.

If you test positive, you will need to self isolate in line with government guidance.

If you are not recognised as fully vaccinated and are travelling from any country outside the red list, you need to order a Day 2 and 8 test pack.

Visit our Entering the UK FAQ for more information.

Completing your passenger locator form

Before travelling to the UK, you will need to complete a passenger locator form. For this, you need a test booking reference number. We will email this to you after you have ordered your test. This number will always begin with ‘ZVAGB’.

Please note, it can take up to 30 minutes to receive the email containing your test booking reference number. If you do not receive this within 30 minutes, please contact our Customer Support team.

Always enter your test booking reference number where requested, exactly as it is shown in the email and list ‘ZAVA’ as your test kit supplier.
