  • This test is not for children. Children between 5 and 18 years old need a Day 2 test.
  • This test is not required by law and is entirely optional.
  • You must still take a Day 2 and 8 test pack.

If you are unsure if this test is for you or have any queries about your order, you can contact our Customer Support team on 020 3588 0292, 7 days a week.

2) Activate and take your test

Follow the instructions included with your test kit to activate and take your test. You will be asked for your ‘test booking reference number’. This will be provided by the provider of your Day 2 and 8 test pack. Please make sure you have this ready.

IMPORTANT:

Do not forget to note down your P number. You can find this on the outside of your test kit box and on the sheet of stickers you need to attach to your sample.

3) Return your test

You can return your test by post using a Royal Mail priority post box.

IMPORTANT:

If you are posting your test, you must make a note of your Royal Mail tracking ID. You will need this number to identify your test if there are any delivery issues. You can find this number under the barcode on the postal tracking label attached to your test kit.

Please note: If you post your test kit on a Sunday, there may be delays in receiving your results. We recommend posting on Saturday before 12pm if possible.

4) Get results

You will receive your test results and information on what to do next in your patient account within 48 hours of receipt by Royal Mail.

  • If you test negative for COVID-19, you can leave quarantine. You must still complete your Day 8 test.
  • If you test positive for COVID-19, you must self isolate for 10 days from the date you took your test.

How Test to Release works

If you have not received 2 doses of an NHS administered vaccine and you’re entering England directly from an amber list country, you need to quarantine for 10 days when you arrive. Test to Release allows you to reduce your quarantine time by taking an extra COVID-19 test on day 5 of your quarantine period. If you test negative for COVID-19 you may be allowed to leave quarantine early.

All you have to do is:

  1. Order your Test to Release kit
  2. Make a note of your order reference number - you'll need it for your Passenger Locator Form when entering the UK
  3. Activate and take your test on day 5 of your quarantine*
  4. Pack and return your sample via Royal Mail priority post box using the prepaid Tracked24 envelope included Don’t forget to write down your tracking reference number and post your test before the last priority collection to ensure there are no delays. Check priority post box times.
  5. You should get your results within 48 hours in your patient account allowing you to stop isolating if your test is negative. We’ll email you to let you know when they’re in.

If you test negative for COVID-19, you can end your quarantine (you must still take your day 8 test). If you test positive, you must continue to quarantine, and we will send you information on what to do next.

* If you land on a Monday, Tuesday would be your first day of quarantine, so you would take your test on Saturday. Please make sure you remember to take your test at the correct time, or you will not be able to leave quarantine.
