Day 2 testing step by step guide
1) Order your test
- This test is for anyone who is fully vaccinated and is arriving in England from an amber list country.
- This test is for any children travelling who are between the ages of 5 and 18.

2) Record your test booking reference number
After ordering your test, you will receive two emails. The first email will contain your order confirmation, and the second email will contain your 'test booking reference number'. You must note down your 'test booking reference number' as you will need this to complete your passenger locator form.
3) Activate and take your test
Follow the instructions included with your test kit to activate and take your test.
IMPORTANT:
Do not forget to note down your P number. You can find this on the outside of your test kit box and on the sheet of stickers you need to attach to your sample.
4) Return your test
You can return your test by posting it using a Royal Mail priority post box.
IMPORTANT:
If you are posting your test, you must make a note of your Royal Mail tracking ID. You will need this number to identify your test if there are any delivery issues. You can find this number under the barcode on the postal tracking label attached to your test kit.
Please note: If you post your test kit on a Sunday, there may be delays in receiving your results. We recommend posting on Saturday before 12pm if possible.
5) Get results
You will receive your test results and information on what to do next in your patient account within 48 hours of receipt by Royal Mail.

How Day 2 testing works
If you have received 2 doses of a vaccine that’s been administered by the NHS or approved by the EU or US and you’re entering England from an amber list country, you will need to take a test within 2 days to check for COVID-19.
All you have to do is:
- Order your Day 2 test before entering England.
- Make a note of your booking reference number. You will need to enter this on your passenger locator form when you enter England.
- Activate and take your Day 2 test within two days of entering England
- Pack and return your sample via the prepaid Tracked24 envelope included. Don’t forget to write down your tracking reference number and post your test before the last priority collection to avoid delays. Check priority post box times.
- We will email you to let you know when your results are in your patient account. You should get your results within 48 hours of receipt by Royal Mail.
If you test negative for COVID-19, you are free to continue as normal. If you test positive, you will need to self isolate in line with government guidance.

Completing your passenger locator form
Before travelling to England, you will need to complete a passenger locator form. To do this, you need a 'test booking reference' number. We will email this to you after you have ordered your test. This number will always begin with ‘ZVAGB’.
Please note, it can take up to 30 minutes to receive the email containing your ‘test booking reference’. If you do not receive this within 30 minutes, please contact our Customer Support team.
Always enter your test booking reference where requested, exactly as it is shown in the email and list ‘ZAVA’ as your test kit supplier.

ZAVA’s Day 2 test is used to find harmful variants of COVID-19 at an early stage after you enter England. 2 doses of a vaccine that’s been administered by the NHS or approved by the EU or US and are travelling from an amber list country, you do not need to quarantine and can continue as normal unless you test positive for COVID-19.
You are only fully vaccinated if you have received 2 doses of an NHS-administered vaccine at least 14 days before travel.

Take your Day 2 test within 2 days after you enter England.
If you have received 2 doses of a vaccine that’s been administered by the NHS or approved by the EU or US and are travelling from a green or amber list country, you do not need to take any other tests.
If you have not received 2 doses of an NHS administered vaccine, you need to order an Incomplete or Unvaccinated Amber Arrivals Day 2 and 8 test pack.

If you have not received 2 doses of a vaccine that’s been administered by the NHS or approved by the EU or US, different guidelines will apply and you will need to order a different test.
The government reviews travel restrictions every 3 weeks, so it’s important to check before you travel. Testing requirements may differ in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

You will need to activate your Day 2 test on the day you take it. Activate it using a quick and easy form in your online patient account.

You should return your completed test by priority post as soon as possible. This is to make sure your sample reaches our lab quickly without contamination.

Return your completed test by posting in a Royal Mail priority post box using the prepaid Tracked24 envelope included. Don’t forget to write down your tracking reference number and post your test before the last priority collection to avoid delays.
Please make sure you note down your tracking number before returning your sample. You will need this to track when your sample has been delivered to the laboratory. If you find that it has not been marked as ‘delivered’ within 48 hours, please contact our Customer Support Team. We do not take responsibility for any sample lost in transit.

If you test positive for COVID-19 after taking your Day 2 test, you will need to self isolate for 10 days in line with government guidelines.
You must continue to self isolate, even if you feel well.
If you are showing symptoms, you must self isolate for 10 days from the day your symptoms started (no matter when you took your test).
Anyone you live with or have travelled with must also self isolate for 10 days from the day you took your test.

If your results are inconclusive from your Day 2 test, you must take another test.

Next day delivery: Your order will be sent out with Royal Mail for next day delivery as standard if you place your order before 4pm Monday to Friday. If you place your order on a weekend or bank holiday, your test kit will be posted the next working day. We recommend ordering your test early to make sure it’s ready for you to take on day 2 of your quarantine.
Fast results: You should get results and advice on what to do next within 48 hours from receipt by Royal Mail.

ZAVA does not accept any responsibility or liability for any costs arising from any delay, disruption or cancellation of your plans directly or indirectly caused by the results of your COVID-19 test. After placing your order, you can not amend it. This includes changing order details such as the delivery address. Please refer to our Terms and Conditions for more information.
When posting your test, it is your responsibility to make sure you use a Royal Mail priority post box and post your test before the last priority collection of the day. You will only receive your results in 48 hours from when Royal Mail receives your test. Posting your test after the last collection will delay receiving your results.
If you would like to track your parcel with Royal Mail, you need to record the tracking ID.
It is your responsibility to follow quarantine guidelines and make sure you take your test at the correct time in accordance with UK guidelines.
You must activate your test kit in order to receive your results. If you do not activate your test kit, you will not receive your results, and you will not be able to leave quarantine.
We do not offer refunds for Day 2 tests or our Day 2 and 8 test pack.
