The best way to store your Wegovy pens will depend on whether they are currently in use or not. Storing your pens correctly is essential to maintain their effectiveness and to ensure they are safe to use.
Unopened Wegovy pens should be stored in the fridge before use, between 2 and 8°C. If you order your pens online, they may arrive without cold packaging, as Wegovy can be transported at room temperature (up to 30°C) for up to 48 hours. Solution – The Wegovy pen is no longer safe for use. You must throw it away.
The Wegovy expiry date is 30 months from the date of manufacture if it remains refrigerated. The expiry date refers to the last day of the month. The expiry date is printed on the original packaging that your injection pen was supplied in, and it is usually printed on the pen itself.
You should keep the original box until you are finished with the pen. This will protect the pen from direct light and allow you to keep track of when it should be used by. Once the expiry date has been reached, or a Wegovy pen has been open for 6 weeks, it must be thrown away and cannot be used.
