More about Fit to Fly
Getting your Fit to Fly certificate
We make getting a Fit to Fly certificate easy:
- Order your COVID-19 test kit.
- We offer next day delivery (when you order before 4pm Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays) but recommend ordering your kit at least 7 days ahead of your flight.
- Collect and package your sample ready for drop-off using the instructions provided in the test kit.
IMPORTANT: Be sure to check the regulations of the country you are travelling to as this will affect when you need to take your test before you fly. For most countries, this is usually 72 hours.
- On the day you take your test, you must activate your kit online, using ZAVA’s quick and easy activation form.
- Return your completed test to one of our drop-off points before 4pm.
- If you test negative for COVID-19, we will give you your results via your online ZAVA account. We will email you to let you know when your results and certificate are available to download from your account.
If you test positive, we will also give you your results via your online ZAVA account. This means that you currently have coronavirus. You should self isolate immediately and follow government advice to protect yourself and the people around you. Unfortunately, this means you will not be able to travel, even if you do feel well.
Most airlines now ask travellers to provide evidence of a recent negative COVID-19 test before boarding a flight. Our Fit to Fly certificate can be used as proof of a negative COVID-19 test.
Please check the requirements of your airline or destination before travelling. Rules on when you need to take your test, the type of test and certificate details can change at short notice.
You cannot use this service for returning day 2 and day 8 tests or for Test to Release (day 5). We are working to launch these services soon.
ZAVA’s Fit to Fly kit uses the PCR (RT-PCR method) swab test. This is the medical gold standard and the same test used by the NHS and Public Health England. It’s also accepted by all major airlines and embassies.
You can fly from any airport in the UK with a valid ZAVA Fit to Fly certificate but to get your certificate, you need to be able to get to one of our drop-off locations.
We currently only provide drop-off locations in central London, Cardiff, Bristol, Exeter, Bath, Taunton and Plymouth, but will be expanding soon.

We recommend ordering your COVID-19 Fit to Fly test kit at least 7 working days before your flight. You will need to wait until the deadline to take your test sample. The deadline depends on your travel destination - usually 72 hours or 96 hours ahead of your flight. Your order will be sent out with Royal Mail for next day delivery as standard if you place your order before 4pm Monday to Friday. If you place your order on a weekend or bank holiday, your test kit will be posted the next working day.
Your destination country will have specific rules on when to test before your flight. So don’t forget to check with your travel provider or airline.

*Our service is not suitable if your flight is on a Tuesday after 3.45 pm and you are flying to a country that requires a COVID-19 test 72 hours before travel unless you are able to use our central London (Angel) or Taunton drop-off locations. This is due to our pharmacy drop-off locations being closed on Sundays.
** This only applies if completed tests are dropped off at our pharmacy locations before 4pm Mon-Sat. If samples are dropped off after 4pm, results will take an additional 24 hours.
You must always double-check the requirements of your travel destination, so you know when you need to take your test to get your results in time. If you’re unsure or worried that your flight times don’t allow for your results to be ready, you can call our customer support team for advice.
