The letter will refer you to get treatment from a private specialist doctor. You'll need a letter like this from a GP if you have private medical insurance and want your treatment paid for by your insurer.
We can offer referrals to most kinds of specialist health services, including:
- gynaecologists
- urologists
- dermatologists
- neurologists
- counsellors and therapists
-
-
- Contact your health insurer to make sure your policy covers you for the treatment you need
- You’ll then need a referral letter from a GP. This letter explains the treatment that the GP thinks you should have
- When you have this letter, call your health insurer and let them know that you have been referred for specialist treatment. Some insurers prefer you to fill in an online form at this stage
- Your insurer will let you know what treatment they will pay for and tell you how the payment for this will be covered

-
You'll need to check with your insurance provider to see if they'll reimburse you for the cost of the GP referral letter.

In almost all cases we'll be able to write a GP referral letter based on the information you give us. If our doctors need more information, they'll contact you through your ZAVA account. Occasionally, the doctor will not feel it's right to write a letter for you. If this is the case, we'll explain why we cannot give you a letter.

If we turn down your request because we think you need a physical examination (which we are currently unable to provide), we'll refund you. If we turn down your request because we do not think a GP referral letter is right for your condition, we will not refund you.
