In order to understand ZAVA, it helps to know precisely what an online doctor is and how one can benefit you. An online doctor is similar to your regular GP, but you don't have to book or attend an appointment or speak to anyone face-to-face to get a prescription. Instead, our entire service is carried out remotely online.

As our patient, you can request a prescription or test kit through a simple online form. Every request is then looked at by one of our IMC-registered doctors who will review your information and issue you a prescription if it's suitable. Your digital prescription will then be sent to a pharmacy of your choice for you to collect, or you can choose to have your medication delivered. Test kits are posted directly to your home. You can message a doctor at any time if you have any questions, free of charge.

Every day we’re expanding our service to make sure our patients have access to the latest treatments and advice. And, as our service grows, so does the team of people that make sure everything is running smoothly. Throughout our four divisions ( Ireland, Germany, France and the UK) we’re currently proud to work alongside:

• 33 doctors, pharmacists and medical staff
• 153 talented individuals in design, financial, data, engineering, legal, marketing, and creative teams
• 200 staff

And, it’s with their hard work and dedication that enables us to provide:

• prescriptions and advice for more than 40 medical conditions
• 255 medications, which we’re continually updating with the latest available
• 55+ contraceptive pills
• Over 40 different test kits, including the latest coronavirus testing services
• a photo diagnosis service for a range of skin and sexual health conditions (In England and Germany)
• and video consultation app (in Germany only for now)

It all began with our first DrEd website in November 2011, which served the UK and Germany by supplying online medication and advice. Shortly afterwards, and following an investment upwards of $1.4 million, we launched in Switzerland and Austria and later in Ireland. In 2016 we established ourselves in France under our new brand name ZAVA. Following this, in January 2019, DrEd officially changed its name to ZAVA in Germany and the UK as well before finally changing its name in Ireland in December 2020.

Now, since launching nearly a decade ago, we've pioneered online healthcare by providing a convenient, intuitive and affordable service. We've so far carried out over 9 million treatments, curated vast resources of expert medical advice and information, and developed digital healthcare solutions that have shaped the very essence of what it is to be an online doctor.
