Becotide is an effective preventative inhaler for asthma symptoms. It acts on the process which triggers an allergic reaction in your lungs and prevents allergic asthma. Becotide allows patients with asthma to enjoy a better quality of life without symptoms such as wheezing, coughing and shortness of breath.
Always follow your GP’s instructions about the dosage and number of inhalations you need to take in a day. If you stop using Becotide or change the dosage without speaking to your doctor first, you put yourself at risk of severe asthma symptoms.
If you find that your symptoms worsen during your treatment, speak to your GP. Your GP may decide to change your medication or the dosage, to prevent future symptoms.

Becotide Evohaler contains the corticosteroid beclomethasone dipropionate, which reduces inflammation and swelling in your lungs.
In order to be effective, Becotide needs to be used every day. It is important that you know how to use the inhaler correctly. If you are worried that you might not be getting the correct dosage with each inhalation or have any questions about your inhaler, consult your pharmacist or doctor.

When you start using a new inhaler, you need to check it is working before you take your first inhalation. In order to test your inhaler, remove the mouthpiece cover and shake the inhaler. Hold the inhaler with the mouthpiece pointing away from you and press the canister to release one test puff. You need to follow these steps every time you start a new inhaler and when you haven’t used your inhaler for three days or longer.

Make sure you sit or stand upright whenever you use your inhaler.
- Remove the cover from the mouthpiece and check the mouthpiece to make sure it is clean.
- Shake the inhaler a few times.
- Hold the inhaler upright. Your thumb needs to be placed on the base, below the mouthpiece.
- Breathe out fully as far as you feel is comfortable.
- Put the mouthpiece between your teeth and close your lips around it. Do not chew or bite the mouthpiece.
- Breathe in through your mouth. Just after you have started breathing in, press down on the canister to release one puff of medication as you continue breathing in.
- Hold your breath and take the mouthpiece out of your mouth. Hold your breath for as long as you feel is comfortable.
- If you need to take a second inhalation, wait half a minute before repeating steps 3 – 7.
- When you have taken the last inhalation, place the cover back on the mouthpiece to prevent dust and dirt from getting into the mouthpiece.

Your GP will decide which dosage of Becotide you require and aim to find the lowest dosage which effectively prevents symptoms for you.

Talk to your doctor if your asthma symptoms don’t improve within seven days of beginning your treatment with Becotide. You must also consult your doctor as soon as possible if your symptoms worsen, become more frequent or if you find that you need to use your reliever inhaler more often than usual.
