ZAVA has partnered with one of Europe’s leading medical diagnostics providers SYNLAB to offer COVID-19 testing (testing provided by Southwest Pathology Services, part of SYNLAB Group). SYNLAB is a UKAS accredited private provider listed on GOV.UK for COVID-19 testing.
From 4am on 18 March 2022, travellers entering the UK no longer need to take any COVID-19 tests, either before travelling or after arriving in the country. This applies to both vaccinated and non vaccinated travellers. If you’re not fully vaccinated and entering the UK before this time, order your Day 2 PCR test below. We will update this page once the new rules are live on 18 March.
Have a test you no longer need? You can get a full refund if you’ve already bought your Day 2 PCR test from us to use after this date.
Enter code SAVE15 at checkout for 15% off.
Adults (those 18 years old and over) who are not fully vaccinated* must take a Day 2 PCR test after arriving in the UK from a non red list country.
This reflects the latest UK government travel test rules (live as of Friday 11 February). You may be able to get a refund if you previously bought a travel test from us that you no longer need (for example, you bought a Day 2 and 8 PCR test pack but you’re not required to take a Day 8 test now). Send a message to our Customer Support team through your ZAVA account to request your refund.
* Adults only qualify as 'fully vaccinated' if it’s been 14 days since their second dose of a vaccine (or 14 days since their single dose Janssen vaccine). Otherwise, they are not considered fully vaccinated and must take a Day 2 PCR test. Check the official government website if you are unsure of your vaccination status.
1) Order your Day 2 PCR test
This test is for adults arriving in the UK who do not qualify as ‘fully vaccinated’ (see above).
All children (those under 18 years old) automatically qualify as ‘fully vaccinated’, regardless of vaccination status. They do not need to take any travel tests after entering the UK under the current rules.
You can order multiple test kits, either for yourself and others in your group.
2) Record your test booking reference number
After ordering your test, you will receive two emails. The first email will contain your order confirmation.
The second email will contain your test booking reference number (beginning with ‘ZVAGB’). You will need this test booking reference number to complete your passenger locator form when entering the UK, so make a note of it.
3) Activate and take your test
Follow your test kit instructions to take your test and collect your sample. You need to take your test within 2 days after entering the UK. Tip: the day you enter the country is considered ‘day 0’. You need to take your test on or before ‘day 2’.
You must activate your test otherwise we cannot give you your result. Do this on the same day you take your test. Please activate any tests taken by those under 16 years old from your own ZAVA account.
To activate your test, you will need your
- passport
- flight number
- date of arrival in the UK
- test kit number (8 digits long, beginning with ‘P’). This is printed on the barcode stickers included with your kit.
- test booking reference number (beginning with ‘ZVAGB’). Check the email we sent you after ordering your test.
- Royal Mail tracking ID. This is under the barcode on the prepaid envelope included with your kit. You can use this to track your test after returning it to our lab (for instance, if there are delivery issues).
You do not need to quarantine after arriving in the country.
4) Return your test
Post your test back to our lab using a Royal Mail priority post box.
There may be delays getting your result if you post your test on a Sunday. Post this on a Saturday before 12pm instead, if possible.
5) Get your result
Your test result should arrive in your ZAVA account within 48 hours of Royal Mail receiving your test. We will also email you when your result is ready to view.
We will explain what you need to do next depending on your result.
We’re here to support you.

Completing your passenger locator form
Before travelling to the UK, you will need to complete a passenger locator form. For this, you need a test booking reference number. We will email this to you after you have ordered your test. It can take up to 30 minutes for this email to arrive. If you do not receive this within 30 minutes, please check your spam and bin folders, or contact our Customer Support team.
Your test booking reference number will always begin with ‘ZVAGB’. Always enter this exactly as it is shown in the email and list ‘ZAVA’ as your test kit supplier, where requested.

The Day 2 PCR test is for adults (those 18 years old and over) who are not fully vaccinated and entering the UK (from a country outside of the red list).
Children (those under 18 years old) do not have to take any travel tests to enter the UK under the current rules. They are considered ‘fully vaccinated’, regardless of vaccination status.
Adults who are not fully vaccinated must also take a pre departure COVID-19 test in the 48 hours before travelling to the UK and have proof of a negative result. Children may need to do the same depending on the country they're travelling from.

ZAVA uses the PCR (RT-PCR method) swab test. This is the same test used by the NHS. Test kits are CE marked and all samples are analysed in a UKAS accredited laboratory. The test is widely accepted in EU countries.
Our lab partner, Southwest Pathology Services (part of the Synlab Group), has verified the sensitivity of the PCR tests at 99.04% and specificity of 100%. So in a group of 1,000 people with SARS-CoV-2 virus, about ten of them will be given a negative result. This means the test did not detect the presence of the virus.

ZAVA does not accept any responsibility or liability for any costs arising from any delay, disruption or cancellation of your plans directly or indirectly caused by the result of your COVID-19 test. After placing your order, you cannot amend it. This includes changing order details such as the delivery address. Please refer to our terms and conditions for more information.
It is your responsibility to:
- follow quarantine rules and take your test at the correct time, according to UK guidelines
- activate your test kit before taking and returning your test in order to receive your result
- record your Royal Mail tracking ID before returning your test so this can be tracked
- use a Royal Mail priority post box to return your test and to post this before the last priority collection of the day. You should get your result within 48 hours of Royal Mail receiving your test (subject to delays and Royal Mail operating times at peak periods, such as Christmas). Posting your test after the last collection will delay receiving your result.
We do not offer refunds on Day 2 PCR tests. The only exception is if you ordered this prior to 11 February 2022 when the latest UK travel test rules came into effect, to travel on or after this date. Read our refunds page for more information on requesting your refund.
